Philip Diab Concludes Term as PMI Chairman

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PENNSYLVANIA, USA – Philip R. Diab of Amman, Jordon, concluded his term as chairman of the Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI) Board of Directors for 2008.  PMI, a global authority on project management and leading advocate for the project management profession, is governed by a board of directors comprised of 15 elected directors-at-large, each serving three-year terms. The board, which is elected by PMI’s more than 250,000 members in 171 countries, is responsible for governance oversight, policy setting and strategy formulation. Mr. Diab is the first PMI Chair from the Middle East.

Mr. Diab was elected chair of the 2008 PMI Board in October 2007.  He served as the PMI Board Vice Chair in 2007, as secretary/treasurer and Performance Oversight Committee (POC) Chair in 2006, and Strategic Planning and Program Alignment (SPPA) Committee Chair in 2004. 

Prior to joining the board, Mr. Diab served as chair of the PMI Assembly of Specific Interest Group (SIG).  He was founder and president of the Thunderbird International Student Chapter of PMI, vice president for professional development of the PMI Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA, Chapter, vice president for education and certification of the PMI Central Iowa, USA, Chapter, founder and chair of the PMI Marketing and Sales SIG, vice chair for marketing and communications for the PMI Financial Services SIG and Leadership Conference Member Advisory Group (MAG) and Planning Committee member.

Mr. Diab is CEO for Leadership Formation, a regional consulting organization that assists clients in aligning strategies, people and action.  Prior to joining Leadership Formation, he was the chief projects officer for a regional company, which serves the Middle East region providing management consulting, information technology and outsourcing services.

Mr. Diab’s education includes an MBA in international management from Thunderbird School for Global Management based in Glendale, Arizona, USA, and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.  He also holds both the Project Management Professional (PMP®) and IBM Executive Project Manager certifications.
